Yasmine the Manchester Urban Gardener will be sharing her secrets to an award winning alleyway and how as an amateur gardener, she found great success in growing food on a small allotment.Â
In 2018 feeling fed up with the state of the alleyway at the back of her home Yasmine and her neighbours started the transformation of a forgotten alleyway into a beautiful green space. As a result of this joint effort Yasmine has created a garden that the neighbourhood can feel proud of and safe using. Itâs a place to socialise, connect, grow food and enjoy being outside. If you feel that you need some inspiration for your own urban plot and want to learn how to create a safe green communal space in your neighbourhood then come and listen to Yasmineâs story.
Yasmine is also a beginner allotmenteer, growing over thirty types of fruit, veg, and herbs in an allotment of about sixty square metres in one of Manchesterâs busiest areas. Thatâs less than half of the median household garden in the UK which shows just how much you can do with a small plot when you know how. Sheâll be sharing her tips and tricks on how to make the best of your space as a beginner food grower.
Come join us to learn how to spread greened alleyways across Greater Manchester and get started on your food growing journey.Â
