Mike, the head of growing and volunteering, from Platt Fields Market Garden is joining us for an evening talk to share a bit about this unique urban market garden and community hub. Platt Fields is a busy market garden producing over a tonne of food a year on just half an acre of land, feeding the volunteers, visitors and catering across the city. All of the food is grown organically by Mike and a huge number of volunteers in what was once a disused bowling green in the middle of Fallowfield.
Mike will cover the history of how the garden came to be and how it was transformed into the green haven it is today. So if you’ve ever wondered how you could start your own community garden on your patch now’s the time to find out.
There’s so many ways to get involved with Platt Fields Market Garden and Mike will be telling us about all that the garden has to offer the community, from clubs, courses and workshops to festivals and markets. We look forward to seeing you there, the Plant team.
