Inspired by James Sadler.\n\n\nTogether We Rise is a creative collaboration visually bringing the story of James Sadler to life\, 10-years since Sadler’s Yard was named by public vote. \nNOMA has teamed up with illustrator\, Beth Travers of BOBO1325 – a Partner at architectural & design destination Material Source Studio based at NOMA – to artistically chart the life of pastry chef-turned-balloonist Sadler. \nIn the first of a series of free events\, join local writer Hayley Flynn on Tuesday 14 May at 12pm for a specially curated walking tour. \nHayley brings her placemaking and critical-thinking specialism to the tour\, revealing the lesser known stories of the wider NOMA neighbourhood as seen through an alternative eye. \nThere is also an opportunity to see Beth and the first artwork in the Together We Rise series as it takes shape in a visit to Material Source Studio. \n \nEach participant will also be gifted a limited edition print to take away. \n \n12-1pm. With their help\, we have got some fun and creative activities lined up for us to try out together on the day\, including bunting making ready to dress the room for our Big Lunch\, and zine making to be able to tell everyone about it afterwards! \nThe tasty food for our Big Lunch will be crafted by Bounceback Food\, who through an enormous range of nation-wide initiatives including community kitchens\, market stalls\, supper clubs and foodbank deliveries\, are on a mission to fight food poverty. As a real treat\, we will be getting hands on in the kitchen too\, alongside the chef\, to create a small selection of side and sweet dishes to add to our shared table! \n \nIn the spirit of The Big Lunch\, we are also inviting guests to bring a small side item of food to add to the table if they wish.  This could be anything from a bag of crisps\, a piece of fruit or your favourite homemade traybake if you have a sweet tooth.  There is no pressure to bring anything at all and there will be plenty of food for everyone. \nWe will have a photographer with us on the day and will be sharing news of the event with local and national media\, with the potential for media to join us to help encourage even more people to join in with The Big Lunch.

DESCRIPTION:Is it possible to learn an instrument\, write songs and record an album in under a week? At the end of April we find out as we invite young people (that aren’t in education\, employment or training) to NOMA to make a racket with Irene Taylor Trust in their project Making Tracks. \nIf you’ve ever watched Paul McCartney on stage and thought “yeah\, I could do that” this is the project for you!  \nWhat is it? \nWe are facilitating a free music project with Irene Taylor Trust called Making Tracks from the 28th April to the 2nd of May at NOMA for young people in Manchester. \nThe project will involve collaborating over 5 days to create original music\, which will be showcased to a live audience on the Friday.  \nIt’s a project for young people aged 18-25 who are not in Employment\, Education or Training. No instrument or singing experience is required – just a love of music!  \nThere will be a taster day on Wednesday 23rd April\, at Altogether Otherwise for the young people to visit the venue and get a sense of the project.    \nKnow somebody that should be involved? \nHere is the sign up form.
