Fun Haus

For TOAST’s second hosting, Sheffield based artist David Mcleavy will create an environment where fun is the primary instigator for dialogue.
David Mcleavy’s work looks at the way in which we act and respond to certain social situations, specifically but not exclusively when placed in unfamiliar territories. By employing humour and flamboyance Mcleavy’s work explores these social environments and looks at their functionality as an art piece.
Drawing from his working methods developed in Work! Work! Work! at Art Sheffield in 2013, Mcleavy will use the space of TOAST as a catalyst for interaction. By using absurd situations Funhaus looks at how people act around one another rather than existing as an exhibition to be looked at.

Funhaus will be open by appointment with additional dates for participatory activities to be announced.

David McLeavy lives and works in Sheffield. Recent solo projects include Work! Work! Work!, Primemover, Sheffield, Villa, South Square Gallery, Bradford and The Result of a Concrete Apple, Supercollider Contemporary Art Projects, Blackpool. Recent group projects include Fever Pitch, Speedwell Works, Sheffield, Lounger, Mathews Yard, Croydon and Open Plan Living, Two Queens, Leicester. Mcleavy is a studio holder at S1 Artspace and also runs YAC | Young Artists in Conversation.
