WRAP UP 2016 WITH NOMA
NOMA is set to become a hub of unique activity for the festive period as we see out 2016 in style.
Continuing with our focus on creativity and innovation, NOMA is once again working alongside local designers and makers offering a Winter Workshop and Wrapping Exchange in Sadler’s Yard.
At the Winter Workshop, anyone can drop in and join local design collective Makers Dozen in making a selection of traditional gifts, each of which has been reinvented through exciting material twists and contemporary processes – and all for free. From toy boats to kaleidoscopes, your own scented candles or a beautiful 2017 diary, the gift selection will change on a regular basis with options being shared via Sadler’s Yard social media channels every day.
Whether handmade or purchased elsewhere, any gift can be wrapped at the Wrapping Exchange – housed alongside the Winter Workshop – where there’ll be a variety of GF Smith paper to choose from and an expert wrapper on hand to create the perfect final present. Visitors are also encouraged to explore printing practices to design their own paper, which will then be added to the paper available and exchanged for future visitors.
Both the Winter Workshop and Wrapping Exchange will be open daily from 11am to 7pm between 3rd and 23rd December.
Alison Power, Events and Stakeholder Manager at NOMA, comments: “The festive season is undoubtedly one of the most important in any events calendar and we’re really excited to be producing something unique for Manchester.
After the success of The Pilcrow and last year’s Christmas tree at Sadler’s Yard, it was essential we continued our focus on making and skill sharing, and working with Makers Dozen is sure to set Winter Workshop apart. It’s an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to produce something truly bespoke this winter to have a hands on experience under the guidance of such talented local designers and makers.”
Wrap Up 2016 at NOMA will start on Thursday 1st December with a special preview event of the Winter Workshop and Wrapping Exchange alongside street food and live music. Free entry, 5.30-9pm, Sadler’s Yard. Click here for more details.
