It’s all happening at Sadler’s Yard this week...
Come down to Sadler’s Yard this weekend for a first look at Manchester’s new public square. We have a host of festive fun and food on offer too, all centred around our fantastic giant wooden Christmas tree – a bespoke art installation designed especially for us by Hungarian artists, Hello Wood.
Here’s a round up of what’s going on:
Thursday 3rd December - Official Opening of Sadler’s Yard
The first public square to be established in Manchester this century will be officially opened by Sir Howard Bernstein, Chief Executive of Manchester City Council.
The name Sadler’s Yard was chosen through an online crowd-sourcing initiative after members of the public were invited to suggest names for the site via social media. It was named after James Sadler, a pioneer, inventor and innovator who made Manchester’s first manned balloon flight from Manchester in 1785.
Friday 4th December (from 7pm) – Official launch of the Pilcrow Pub at Sadler’s Yard
This Friday is the launch of the Pilcrow Pub; a collaborative community project that will evolve over time as local people contribute to building it. It will also hold workshops and skill sharing sessions and become a hub for the local community.
We will be marking the launch with beer, pizza, music and pub games. You’re invited to join in and celebrate the opening of this unique meeting place.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to confirm your place now.
