International Recognition For Manchester's NOMA Development

NOMA – Manchester's sustainable 20-acres city centre development – has been shortlisted for one of the property industry's most prestigious international awards. The £800 million scheme is in the running for the 'Best Futura Mega Project' award at the internationally acclaimed MIPIM Awards in Cannes, France, next month.

In addition, 1 Angel Square – the new head office of The Co-operative Group - is shortlisted in the 'Best Office and Business Development' category.

Previous best office winners have included the World Trade Centre in Amsterdam and the headquarters of Le Monde in Paris, whilst last year's Mega Project award was won by the Express Rail Link West Kowloon Terminus in Hong Kong.

David Pringle, Director of NOMA, said: "For NOMA and 1 Angel Square to be nominated for these awards is a remarkable achievement, and we are understandably delighted to be in the running. NOMA faces stiff competition from the 5 Lagoons development in the Maldives - as well as projects in Beijing and Stuttgart - so it will be incredibly difficult to win, but hopefully we can become the first British recipient of this award."

Andrew Stokes, chief executive of Marketing Manchester, the agency that leads on the city's presence at MIPIM, said: "MIPIM is one of the largest real estate events in the world and to have two Manchester developments nominated for its prestigious awards is simply fantastic news for the city.

"NOMA is creating a vibrant new area for Manchester, extending the city centre's core - and before it is even completed, it has become something of a landmark on the city's skyline. "
